Colombia - E1
Express Service Issue of 1917
Background As World War I drew to a close, many countries issued a distinct stamp for special delivery or express service. Colombia's five centavo stamp featured a foot messenger. This initial stamp was perforated 13.5 and printed in a Kelly green shade. The designer of the stamp is not known, however, the original design source is known, a photograph utilized for the vignette, from the Perkins Bacon archives, the stamp's printer. Their name and "LONDON" appear at the bottom of each stamp. This is a special single page exhibit. |
